Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Are the TCM Practitioners (TCMPs) registered under the Ministry of Health (MOH)?
A: Yes, in My First Clinic, all TCMPs offering TCM services at the clinic are registered under the TCM Practitioners Board (TCMPB), which is a statutory board under the charge of the Ministry of Health.  All practitioners possess a valid practicing license and have several years of experience.
Q: Why do TCM practitioners ask questions about patients' stools, urination, thirst, appetite and taste when it seems so unrelated to the pain such as knee pain or back pain?
A: Questions on the elimination system provide indications of how our kidneys and digestive system is functioning. In TCM, lower back and knee pain are often due to weak kidneys and a poor digestive system can cause internal dampness which can accumulate in the joints resulting in joint pain. Your appetite and taste allow TCM practitioners to understand the quality of your digestive system.
Q: Is TCM only good for pain treatment?
A: TCM has been very effective in pain and injury treatment but it is not limited to pain treatments only. TCM treatments have been effective for many illnesses and wellness too. For example, allergies, digestive disorders, fatigue and sleep disorders, skin disorders, immunity boost, women’s health and general wellness.
Q: Are the Chinese medications prescribed safe?
A: Like all other medications, testing and quality control are crucial. Dealers or companies must provide HSA with documents to demonstrate that their products meet the safety and quality standards.
Q: Can I claim insurance if I seek treatment at My First TCM Clinic?
A: Yes, you can as My First TCM Clinic is registered under the TCM Practitioners Board and possess valid practicing certificates.  Therefore, your TCM treatments expenses at My First TCM Clinic are claimable.
